This is where computers, or rulers and protractors and a compass, are your friend. Stuff is more in my wheelhouse than people or animals, though. It’s far easier for me to see the basic shapes that compose stuff than it is to see those shapes in living things sometimes. Still, even with that, a freehand sketch from me would look kinda sketchy 🙂 Perspective is hard to sketch, too, without drawing some reference lines and again having a straight edge handy… so from the looks of things, if you drew that just with pencil and no other tools, I’d say you captured most of the essential bits of the structure.

Perspective definitely hard for me. Trying to work on my “seeing” for now, so all freehand. We shall see if it improves.

I think you already captured some of the hardest perspective lines….but the more you do the better you get!

Looks like you are seeing things fine. That’s the tough part. The rest comes from practice… but for some the seeing is the hardest part.

I did some drawing on the right side of the brain exercises and they helped.

Cool. It’s also fun to mix styles sometimes… I did something last month that is a good example of this, that I need to get posted on my blog… but it’s basically a picture I composed of things I drew in two different mediums. Your sense of humor seems like it would be a good fix for mixing styles in your cartoons too I think.
